Microgrid and Islanded Power System Operation

A microgrid can operate connected to the main grid or separated in island mode. The same concepts behind adaptive defense schemes apply: topology, generation balance, load priority, and restoration strategy.

Connected versus islanded

When connected, the grid can absorb imbalance. When islanded, the local system must manage generation and load with much less margin.

Defense logic

Microgrids benefit from clear load priority, generator runback logic, and fast visualization of overload or imbalance conditions.

Learning connection

The simulator is not a full microgrid solver, but it gives a practical visual bridge from power flow to island-mode decision making.
